Permanent Driving Licence Online Application: Step-by-Step Guide

Getting a Permanent Driving Licence is important for driving legally for many years. This guide helps you apply for it online, step by step.

What is Permanent DL?

A Permanent Driving Licence is given to those who finish their learner's licence phase and pass the RTO's driving test. It lasts about 15 years, or until you turn 40. With it, you can drive alone anywhere in India.

Apply For A Permanent DL

Applicants who have previously applied for a Learning Licence and now wish to obtain their Permanent Driving Licence can do so by following these steps:

• First, visit the official website -  https://parivahan.gov.in/parivahan/.
• Next, click on the "More" option under Drivers / Learners Licence.

• On the next page, select your state.
• Then, click on "Apply For Driving Licence" to start applying for a permanent driving licence.

• Read and follow the instructions on the next page, then click "Continue."
• Select "Holding Learner Licence."
• Enter your learner licence number and date of birth in the provided fields.
• Click "OK" to finalize the process.

• Your learner licence details will appear on the screen.
• Scroll to see the list of vehicles linked to your learner licence.
• Select the vehicles for your permanent licence, click the blue arrow, then "Submit."
• Agree to the delivery address for your licence by clicking "OK."
• Note the new application number, print the acknowledgment, and click "Next."
• For the second phase, click "Upload Document" then "Proceed" to upload your documents.

Once you've uploaded the required documents, submit your application, and your permanent driving licence will be issued within a few days.

Required Documents

To apply for a Permanent Driving Licence, the candidate needs the following documents:

• Learning Driving Licence Number and its PDF
• Aadhaar card
• Application form PDF
• Fees receipt
• Mobile Number and email.

Important Note

For the driving test, go to the nearest RTO and drive the vehicle you've applied for a DL for, supervised by an RTO official. If the RTO doesn't offer a vehicle, bring your own car or bike. Also, hand in all printed documents to the RTO.
